Additional Notes of James Gordon Alley
GOLDEN WEDDING ANNIVERSARY
Mr. and Mrs. J. G. Alley, of 515 West Walnut Street, Salina, Kansas, celebrated their Fiftieth or Golden Wedding Anniversary on Christmas Day, December 25th, 1931. Both Mr. and Mrs. Alley came to Kansas with their parents, immigrating as far as Salina, (or where Salina is now located) in covered wagons drawn by oxen. As pioneers of Kansas they have watched the progress and development of the period of time extending over many years. Fifty years ago when this happy couple were joined in wedlock, on December 25th, 1881, they went immediately to their home on a farm which is located 12 miles northwest of Salina, where the remained until about the year 1906; they left the farm at that time and went to Sylvan Grove, Kansas, where they resided until the year 1930, moving to Salina where they have resided ever since. To this union four children were born all of them living except the youngest daughter, Miss Myrtle Ines, who passed away in the year of 1915. The remaining children are: Mrs. Anna Lee Williamson, Denver, Colorado; Mr. Reuben R. Alley, Salina, Kansas, and Mrs. Lavina Frain, residing on the old farm 12 miles northwest of Salina. Five grandsons were also present and one great grandson.
Mr. Alley and a sister, Mrs. Sara Cline, are the remaining children of a family of ten; Mrs. Alley is the remaining child of a family of two.
May this couple live to see and enjoy many, many, more anniversaries. Beside their own immediate family, many old friends and relatives called on them or mailed congratulations.
